April Patient SpotlightGwendolyn Crutchfield

Fort Smith Radiation Oncology’s April Patient Spotlight is Gwendolyn Crutchfield of Sallisaw, Oklahoma.  Ms. Crutchfield grew up in Kansas and has lived in Sallisaw for the past 15 to 20 years.  She has two grown daughters and nine grandchildren, three of which live with her.  She spends her spare time having cookouts and pool parties with her grandkids and she has a love of shopping! She is very excited to be sending her 19 year old grandchild off to college in the fall.

Ms. Crutchfield was diagnosed with cancer during a yearly checkup.  Her treatment recommendation was surgery and radiation therapy.  Dr. Choo of Tulsa, OK, performed her surgery and she is completing her radiation treatments here at FSRO.  It has been a pleasure getting to know Ms. Crutchfield and we are proud to have her as our April Patient Spotlight.

February 2012 Patient Spotlight Mr. William Maynard

Born in Austin Texas, Mr. William Maynard, has since lived in Van Buren, Arkansas, for his entire life.  He raised two sons here, and is a proud Papa to 20 plus grandkids.  The grandkids are a combination of nieces, nephews, church children, and biological who all call him their own. Mr. Maynard retired from Whirlpool in 2008.

Mr. Maynard was diagnosed with prostate cancer in June of 2011.  He consulted with Dr. Wahman who recommended surgical removal.  After the surgery, Dr. Wahman suggested post operative radiation therapy and Mr. Maynard chose Dr. Gast.  Dr. Gast had previously treated his brother and his wife, so he felt very comfortable coming to her for his radiation treatments.

Mr. Maynard is a pleasure to visit with every morning and we are proud to name him our February Patient Spotlight.

Patient Spotlight – May 2011

Mr. Blansett

This month’s patient spotlight is Mr. Blansett.

Mr. Blansett has said that all of the physicians around the Fort Smith area are well connected and coordinate well with each other.

He and his wife moved to Fort Smith from Booneville after considering many other places including Alabama, Mississippi, Texas, Oklahoma, and even Florida. They decided on Fort Smith due to the medical community.

Mr. Blansett says that coming here to Fort Smith Radiation Oncology is like visiting family and that professionalism is outstanding. Mr. Blansett knows a little about professionalism himself as a retired serviceman.

Thank you Mr. Blansett for your service to our country.
