Earlene Hammock and Becky StatonEarlene Hammock

Fort Smith Radiation Oncology’s August Patient Spotlight is Earlene Hammock of Van Buren, Arkansas.

Mrs. Hammock grew up in Hackett, but now resides in Van Buren with her husband of 50 years, Bill.  They raised two daughters and have seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.  FSRO employee Becky Staton is Mrs. Hammock’s granddaughter. Mrs. Hammock is retired from retail work in a dress shop and did alterations until three years ago.  Her hobbies include quilting, reading, and baking.

Mrs. Hammock found her breast cancer by way of her monthly self exam.  A mammogram was ordered and once a cancer diagnosis was made, Dr. Flanagan performed her surgery.  Her cancer was caught very early, she has had no problems with her radiation treatments and she states the treatments have been real easy.

The staff at FSRO has enjoyed getting to know Becky’s “Nanny” and is proud to name her our patient of the month.
