Serving the Cancer Treatment needs of Western Arkansas and Eastern Oklahoma
The specialized staff at Fort Smith Radiation Oncology’s cancer treatment center includes four therapists, the only full-time, on-staff, certified dosimetrist in the Fort Smith area and a oncology-certified RN.
Our administrative and support staff includes two billing and insurance specialists to assist patients with financial and insurance counseling as well as to help patients explore financial, educational and community resources available to them.
We are always a team…whether in the office…or out in the community!
Dr. Kris L. Gast is very active in support of our community and the surrounding areas and encourages her staff to participate in community activities as well.
Some of the office projects include Partners in Education, American Cancer Society projects such as Relay for Life, Breast Cancer Awareness, Paint the Park Pink and Heart Association Month. The office is active in job shadowing programs, public school career days and many other social awareness activites.
Billing and Insurance Counseling
We accept all insurances. Our Financial Counselor can guide patients and their families through the difficult financial situations regarding medical bills, insurance problems and paper work.
Our counselor will contact your insurance plan to find out what your responsiblity will be and to ensure a prior authorization is obtained, if needed. Our counselor will meet with you on your first appointment to go over the estimated amount that you may owe after your insurance pays.
A payment plan is available to those individuals needing to pay out the radiation therapy bill. We can also help patients who may need to file for Medicaid assistance in Arkansas or Oklahoma.
We can help patients and their families explore various financial assistance resources as well as educational and community services programs that may be available to them.
At the present time we have grant money from the American Cancer Society to help qualified patients defray some of their transportation expenses for daily radiation treatments.
We also can help with all necessary correspondence, applications & paperwork for patients and their families. Provide agency referrals and assist patients with administrative issues including but not limited to Social Security, Disability and the Family Leave Act.
